There was not much information present about the research but I still chose this article because it offers a lot more. Understanding the cause of cancer and other fatal illness has always been a curious topic in science. I would never have thought that pauses in the copying of genetic material could ever be the cause. That is so absolutely fascinating, and I really want to do further research to know more information. This could lead to so many potential treatment opportunities.

Pauses in DNA Replication Potential Cause of Fatal Mutations
An article in the ScienceDaily summaries research done at the University of York that will explain the way the DNA breaks down inside a cell that contributes to cancer and other diseases. It was discovered that when DNA is being copied for protein synthesis there are frequent pauses which can create the potential for dangerous mutation to take place. The research concludes that the pauses occur to repair any faults during DNA copying and an efficient repair is crucial to avoid altering the genetic code and causing potentially fatal mutations.

The identification of these pauses and mutations could help lead to the development of treatments and preventative treatments for many cancers and other diseases. It is amazing what is being found in the genome.
