Coronavirus disease, also known as COVID-19, is an infectious disease that resulted in the global pandemic of 2020. While a common assumption for the origin of the illness connects to human consumption of  bats, researchers have been analyzing genetic samples of different animals from the wildlife trade in the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market. The possibility of the illness spreading was likely from animal to animal, then to human. 


“The analysis doesn't prove the animals in those areas were infected. However, the proximity of COVID-19 samples to where their DNA was located means it's a strong likelihood they were carriers, according to the study” (Silberman).


The next examination of this research dove into the reasons why the spread happened as fast as it did, and made it abundantly clear that humanity has since learned from the consequences of COVID-19. Cleanliness is essential to a healthy human experience, and has been implemented into daily life to a much higher degree.

Genetics in the origin of covid

Covid-19 is an infectious disease that infected many people who would experience a moderate to mild respiratory illness. During the time a group of scientist have proven that a new theory in which the Covid-19 pandemic began from animals to humans instead of a leak from a laboratory. But in 2020 a seafood market in Wuhan China contained both SARS-CoV-2 and the genetic material from a raccoon dog. Racoon dogs have been a widespread in parts of Europe where they are considered an invasive species

During the pandemic many rumors were told but in this article a man name Michael says he doesn't necessary believe the raccoon dog was infected but they were in the same area. But during the same year in 2020, the market was closed and scientist believes that the creatures were infected with the virus. Questions were asked in where the origin came from but all we know is that genetic data was not released to the public in China. But finally it was released to the global research in 2023. My opinion in this is that Covid-19 was spread and many rumors were told but I feel like a animal to human transmissions is easy so for the raccoon dog or any animals it could have been easy for the virus to have spread from animal to human.  In Figure 2 we see the invasive and the immunity of the raccoon dog it also, talks about genome. so, in this article it tells us that raccoon dog is an invasive species which is mainly native to East Asia. This being said the disease could have been carried from the animals and transmitted into humans.

New COVID-19 nasal spray outperforms current antibody treatments in mice


     Current antibody treatments block SARS-CoV-2 by binding to one of three binding sites on the spike protein. A new protein-based antiviral binds to all three sites on the spike protein, making it more effective than current treatments. The new treatment is also low-cost, easy to manufacture, does not require complicated supply chains with extreme refrigeration and potentially could be self-administered. 

    In this study, researchers at Northwestern University, University of Washington and Washington University at St. Louis developed a new protein-based antiviral nasal spray, which is being advanced toward Phase 1 human clinical trials to treat COVID-19 cases. 

    The spray works by interfering with the virus's ability to enter cells. When the researchers administered the treatment to mice as a nasal spray, they found that the best results of the experiment reduced symptoms of infection, and some even prevented the infection altogether. This could be the start of effective treatment for COVID-19, and possibly aid to end the pandemic.

The Link Between Your Genes and COVID-19

 

        According to this article it is possible that genes can determine one's risk factor for COVID-19. If scientists discover ways to link genetics and COVID-19 together then finding cures and drugs to treat the virus will become much easier. Simple genetics testing founded from universal healthcare can help detect genes that cause people to be more susceptible to COVID-19. The genes can also tell us when and how to fight the virus. In my opinion genetic testing can help us find COVID cures faster.
