Terrific Tumor Testing Turnaround?

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the United States, and being diagnosed can be one of the most devastating things one can go through within their lifetimes, especially if the cancer had previously gone undetected and has advanced into more and more severe stages of growth. That being said, however, there is a new type of early detection in regards to cancer, known as the GRAIL Galleri test. This test searches for ctDNA within the bloodstream in order to see if dead cancer cells are present, inferring live cancer cells are still around of the same type. While it does not detect all cancers, some of the most common variants have significantly high sensitivities, such as ovarian, colon, cervical and even pancreatic cancer.

  1. Wow! This is terrific news for early cancer detection. The GRAIL Galleri test sounds like it will save many lives regarding testing for and hopefully aiding in the early treatment of ovarian, colon, cervical, and pancreatic cancer.

  3. This is a brilliant idea. I am shocked that this was not thought of sooner! This could be so helpful and save so many people. The cancers it does detect are definitely the most common and I bet many people would love to get checked for this. Now I wonder how they will improve this to be able to detect other types of cancers. - Katherine Morone

  4. GRAIL Galleri tests appear to have a lot of possible implications. Since it is able to detect some of the most common types of cancers it can help diagnose and prevent many cancer deaths. I believe that scientists will be able to expand the types of cancer that this test is able to detect in the future.
