Researchers from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland have tested different genes to identity the proteins that help prevent this virus. When comparing them to the blood sample of 20 people with cold sores they saw one gene that was constantly mutating. This gene was called IL28B, which doesn't make the necessary proteins in order to fight off the cold sore. 1. I am glad that there is researcher being done to find a better treatment option for cold sores. Cold sores are very common among people and are extremely annoying to deal with, so an effective treatment option would help out greatly
