Type 2 diabetes
also known as adult onset diabetes which is a chronic condition that affects
the way the human body processes glucose (blood sugar). Treatments include
diet, exercise, medication, and insulin therapy. In this study, controlled participants
were on a strict diet of a large high caloric protein breakfast, medium lunch,
and a small dinner; while the experimental participants were on the same diet
expect for breakfast instead of getting their protein from fish and meats, they
consumed whey protein as their source of protein. Results concluded the
participants on the whey protein diet were more satiated and less hungry throughout
the day, with fewer glucose spikes after meals controlled to the controlled
groups.
Previously,
before doing research on this study my knowledge on whey protein was very
minimal. I only knew of gym junkies whom always raved about their protein shakes
with whey protein and since I, myself, am not a gym junkie, it never sparked my
interest into doing further research on the topic. From this article and
further research I have learned that whey protein helps to provide in aid for
amino acids which further leads to building blocks for increased muscle growth.
Whey protein also releases anabolic hormones that stimulate muscle growth and
increase insulin, which is extremely beneficial for diabetics who lack the
proper production of insulin.

I never knew that whey protein helps to provide in aid for amino acids which can further lead to building blocks for increased muscle growth. It is interesting that whey protein can release anabolic hormones that stimulate muscle growth and increase insulin. Overall this research can be very beneficial to society and I hope further research is done.
