How Old Are You Really?

Researchers have now identified that one's chronological age may be in fact different than their biological age. Studies have shown that using one's biological age might, in fact, be a better representation of their physical well being than just simply looking for their chronological age. Professor James Timmons a professor at Kings College in London stated "Most people accept that not all 60-year olds are not the same". Which is, in fact, correct since there might be some 60-year olds who may have a better physique than others.

This was a great study in terms of looking into the well being of people as time goes on. Two people of the same age might not even look like they were born in the same decade if one was more fit than the other. That is why I believe this study was interesting since chronological age can only tell so much about a person.

  1. Good article! This can definitely be seen within society, sometimes people let themselves be taken out of society and never get back into a routine, I believe this ages people without them knowing it.

  2. Totally agree with this article. My grandmother is 75 years old but I swear sometimes she has more energy than a lot of 40+ adults do. People's age definitely do not define their physique and health.

  4. I completely agree with this article and the comments. Not only can people of the same age be in completely different health and act differently, but they can look much older or younger than the actually are as well. This is especially true these days because of plastic surgery, botox, better skin and hair care products, and supplement pills. I once saw a lady on TV that was in her 70's but looked 40 because all she ate was organic, vegan, raw food!

  5. This is definitely some ground-breaking research because for years health statistics have been based off of age alone. There are far too many genetic factors involved with age, that just a measure of time cannot properly measure a person's health. I am excited to see where this research will lead us.

  6. I completely agree with this article. Sometimes I feel like society imposes that once you hit a certain age that you are not "fit", "young", and "healthy". There are people that are 60+ and they can still run miles and miles or some that don't need botox etc. I love how this research can broaden peoples perception on age and hopefully there will be more projects like this to come!
