DNA functionality throughout ages

From the birth to death of an individual his/her DNA remains of the same composition, although it assumes diverse purposes at varying times. On top of the well known coding DNA sequences a "second code" layer of genes are present which may lock certain genes in the on or off position.

Scientist at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Studied the blood cells of over 1,200 persons in elder age who participated in the study. In total, around 8 % of the sites the 450,00 sites tested showed the differences counter to younger tests. A total of 1,794 of these sites were related to altered gene expression dealing with an increase in pulse pressure, relating to an amplified vascular risk.

The relation between age and increased risk was not entirely expressed within the article but one would assume it would be attributed to the degradation of signaling.
