This article, posted in Science Daily identifies a new strategy in order to reverse hair loss. In biology. the "human hairless gene" contributes to pathogenesis of atrichia with papular lesions. New functions help to explain these mutations within the genes. This hairless gene is also responsible for a tumor suppressor gene and is found in skin. It may also be helpful with further discoveries in order to treat cancers or disorders. Researchers from the Departments of Dermatology and Genetics and Development at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York hope that the gene found "opens up new opportunities for future treatment of skin diseases, including skin cancer and rare forms of hair loss."
Hair loss is quite popular in older generations, but will forever be an issue. Humans are always trying new treatments to grow hair back or to prevent from losing it. Treatments vary from bald spot solutions to snake oils. Our future can only hold a cure or solution for these people and help to get to the bottom of the issue and finally gain control. Another article by Medical News Today mentions hair transplants and continues to work with new treatments and approaches to deal with thinning, hair loss and baldness.
