Western Black Rhino are Declared Extinct

I know this was a while ago but I thought it was an interesting topic and a tragic one at that. The western black rhino are declared extinct. As of November 13, 2013 the world has lost a subspecies of black rhino. The western black rhino had one of the biggest across central and western Africa. Because of the industrial and agriculture lifestyle in the 20th century; farmers and ranchers in Africa were killing these black rhinos to save their crops. The Chinese came up with a medicine that they say could cure fevers and cancer, of course this was during the 1950's. Then poaching became a really big problem in the 1980's-1990's, the black rhino population was reduced to 10 subspecies at this point. In 2001 WWF did a survey and found that there were only five surviving western black rhinos. The articles that are linked to this blog talked about how the black rhinos have been extinct for 10 years now. But until November 13, 2013 everyone now knows that the western black rhinos are extinct, and can now help towards the repopulation of the rest of the rhino species.

With reading these articles and anyone who also reads these I hope that people can know how important species around the world are. From reading this article and others about different species dying off many children will never see as many animals and plants as I have seen. Hopefully people now realize animals, plants, and humans have to live together in harmony.
