Viruses Recruited as Killers of Tumors

This article is based on new and upcoming (rapidly) research of potential cancer cures. This artcle explains that through research it is found certain types of virual diseases actually kill cancerous tumors and rid cancer cells. In previious trials they have injected hosts with a cancerous tumor or type of cancer with different viruses and it was shown that the cancer cells are indeed klled, however in alot of the cases the cancer cells came back eventually. This process was said to have been taking place since around 1904 and still continues to be researched and tested. The author even said that some of the testing of the different viruses are moving on to stage 3 testing trials and moving along well. It is really trying to match up the right virus to the appropriate cancer to get a match and be able to fully kill all of the cancerous cells out of the host.

One way this article relates to genetics is that cancer doesnt always have to be influenced from outside alments. It can be handed down or can be a possible cancer that is within the family bloodline and passsed down from generaton to generation depending on the different alleles one might aquire from the parents.

  1. I think that it is interesting that some viruses have the potential to eliminate cancer. As you said in the end of your post suceptability to cancer is genetic and any progress in helping in eliminating or just lessening the effects of cancer is a dramatic and potential life altering achievement for the world and all families afflicted with these diseases.
