Hillbilly Bedbugs

Bedbugs, the plague of many. Outbreaks of bedbugs happens all over the world, most recently the United States. Researchers found that bedbugs over the year have inbred a lot. A genetic survey was placed on the genetic variation between bedbugs located in different areas, and researchers found there was a huge difference. Scientists believe that there is such a big difference that with two separate populations would not be able to breed with each other. Scientists also find it unusual that bedbugs do not have reproductive problems, bottle-necking issues, or any mutations due to all the inbreeding found with this species.

  1. That's interesting ! Hopefully with the all the information they gathered regarding the inbreeding and speciation, they'll be able to develop something to control the bedbug outbreaks.

  2. This article is knowledgeable but scary too. If bedbugs are able to inbreed this easily and quickly then it really would be harder to get rid of them from an apartment or house since the article says they develop a resistance to the pesticides easily....the article tells us how and where these bugs can come from but should definitely come up with a solution to get rid of them and soon! Hopefully they do because pesticides won't work for too long on them
