How Your Environment Can Affect Your Genes?

Epigenetics refers to the study of how environmental influences can modify the activity of particular genes in a manner that does not involve alterations in the genetic makeup of an organism. Everyday factors like what we eat and how we live can control whether certain genes are active or not.

It is clear, therefore, that genetics does not have the unique influence on determining one's health condition. The environment is another element that contributes immensely to the way our body functions and reacts to various situations. One may be stressed or malnourished, which could affect gene expression.

Epigenetics is still under investigation by scientists who want to learn more about how all this impacts health. It can be useful in discovering why some people are more inclined to diseases than others despite having identical DNA.

I think epigenetics is very interesting because it shows that we have some control over our health through our daily choices. It connects genetics with real life and highlights the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Your example about people having the same DNA but different health outcomes is a good point.
