Chicken Expression in Chickens

Chicken is a valuable source of lean protein. However, the chicken genome is lacking in the research department. Researchers analyzed genetic variants in chickens along with their RNA single-cell sequence. This identified millions of regulatory effects on gene expression and post-transcriptional changes in 28 tissues. This experiment found context-dependent behaviors and the understanding of 39 complex chicken traits. All these molecular mechanisms are behind gene regulation in chickens. These analyses can help research cross-species and enhance the understanding of complex traits in chickens and other mammals.

Scientists have created the first detailed outline of how genes are created across chicken tissues. By analyzing thousands of chicken DNA and RNA samples, they discovered how specific genetic changes affect how genes are expressed and hidden. This helps explain traits like growth, egg production, or disease resistance. The study also compared chickens to mammals to understand how gene functions are shared or different across species. This research could help improve chicken breeding and offers a powerful tool for studying genes in other animals.
