The stress of political turmoil and events has been seen to divide many people, acting as a consistent stressor that affects multiple aspects of health (mental and physical). Kevin Smith of the University of Nebraska emphasized that there is likely a biological component to these stressors, and the way humans deal with them, because of something “psychologically embedded in us that probably has biological roots that predisposes us to lean toward either the left or the right”.

To analyze whether or not this assumption is factual, the National Library of Medicine confronts the misconceptions and outlines made about human personality’s connection to political ideations and ideological concepts themselves. It was said that although the majority of the relationships between personality traits resided at a genetic level, the majority of genetic variance remained unique to attitudes and ideologies. This implies there is a genetic contribution that affects human behavior that enables them to create their own standing in regards to political ideology.

In order to understand these concepts further, a case study should be done to analyze how multiple aspects of life impact political ideations. Some of these traits may include location, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, and family dynamic. Considering some of the traits listed are genetically influenced, a conclusion or connection may be drawn between them.
