Researchers at the University of Kansas have pinpointed six chemical compounds that block promote growth. The compounds disrupt HuR- RNA binding thus blocking the ability for the tumor protein to replicate. By doing this the scientists are basically eliminating the seed for cancer growth. The results hold promising hope for treating a large group of cancers in people. The researchers said that HuR has been detected in high levels in just about every type of cancer tested. In my opinion this is an incredible step forward in cancer research. As new methods of cancer prevention come out it will be very interesting to see which ones work and which ones do not. Hopefully as time goes on some of these potential cures are in place. Hopefully funding continues towards great projects such as this one.
