Genetic Glitches

After reviewing genetic data from over 60,000 people worldwide scientist at the Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital has been found that there are psychiatric illnesses which share "genetic glitches"(Kolata NYT 1). Using two different groups of people, some who had mental disorders and others that were free of mental disorders, scientist looked at their genetic makeups to see if a common trait or gene could be found. Twins were also used in these studies, and it was found that they could have two different metal disorders because of the same "genetic risk factor"(Kolata NYT 1). The diseases develop because of different genetic and environmental factors and it has been discovered that there is a specific signaling system that is in many psychiatric illnesses.
I found this article to be interesting simply because of the fact that mental disorders could be related to genetics. If this is the case then are a number of other things that we know of and those that we don't know of that could also be related to genetics.
