Pigeons back in action
The NY Times presents an article about how pigeons are being brought back into action with genetic studies as Darwin originally did, no more pea plants or fruit flies. Scientists are following Darwin's footsteps by using birds to look into how evolution works in general. Wow, great photo! Utilizing the pigeon genome can certainly help geneticists research more closely to the human race. In this way, one mammal can be used as an excellent reference point for another. I think it's more interesting when using an animal as opposed to a plant during clinical studies because we can visualize and interperet results better. Darwin would certainly be proud of his successors for validating his original beliefs and interests!
