The experiment involved the use of mating two different strains of fruit flies, the researchers made the discovery that females fruit flies before mating they experience what the researchers call as " genetic priming", this makes them choose certain mates over other mates. They examined if females showed a different behavior after mating, as well as activities related to reproduction, as well as the females RNA to compare the expression of genes in male to female of the different strains.
The Editor-in-Chief of the journal GENETICS said, "It appears that females really do care about the character of their consorts, but they may not have as much control over our choice of mates as they'd like to think." But, the question is : do YOU think love at first sight exists?
This is a very interesting study. You always think that you’re in control of everything when in reality our body and genes control a lot of what happens in our lives. I never thought that our genes could affect our mating choosing but does make sense. I believe in love at first sight but I did not think it was due to our genes.
ReplyDeleteThis was a very interesting article because I never knew that our genes could help choose who we love. I don't really believe in love at first site. Maybe our genes could help us distinguish our potential mates, but ultimately, I believe it all depends on compatibility.
ReplyDeleteI never would have thought how much our body takes control of our actions. I definitely believe in love at first sight but I just never would have thought it was based upon our genes with the choices that we make. I definitely found this article to be very interesting as it also makes you think further into it.
ReplyDeletei know! i never thought about our genes affecting us on that kind of level, but when you think about it does make sense. However, i am still on the fence about if it happens or not because i have never felt it as well Iklan... but i guess you never know!
