Alzheimers Disease Gene Discoveries

In the article shows that there are new discoveries towards Alzheimer's disease. This disease causes memory loss in mostly elderly patients. Recently, researchers have discovered five new genes that give scientists clues as to why people are effected with Alzheimer's and how it get worse with age. They researched millions of patients with Alzheimer's genes and then compared them to people who are not affected by the Alzheimer's disease genes. The newly discovered genes have a lot to do with cholesterol and the inflammation of molecules inside cells. They have been making progress by finding these 5 genes along with 5 other genes discovered in previous years. According to Dr. Nelson Freimer there are now enough genes known to figure out the progress of Alzheimer's disease.

This picture shows a patients brain with Alzheimer's Disease compared to a normal healthy brain.
