Decoding for a Cause

I found this article quite interesting for a number of reasons. I find it fascinating that decoding the genome of such a small organism can have such a large affect on a larger organism's ( the human population) lives. Just from we decoding this algae's genome we now know the advantages it has when using it as an alternative for fuel or food. Perhaps this specific organism will not end up being the number one candidate for alternative fuel source although, overall, I find it incredible that the human population can depend on an organism so much smaller than itself. Also, this article increased my understanding as to how important genetics is to our everyday lives, and the issues we try to resolve as a race everyday.
