1st evidence that ADHD is genetic

This article immediately caught my attention because I have cousins my age with ADHD so I knew I'd be able to relate. ADHD can be a common issue among students in the U.S. so the information in this article can be very useful.

The article states that due to recent studies it has been found that nearly 36% of all children with a learning disability have abnormal chromosomes. This is the first evidence that ADHD is genetic. It is also discussed that some of the genetic defects found for ADHD are very similar or identical to those of  schizophrenia or autism. Scientists mention the idea of some day being able to reverse the affects of ADHD and other learning disabilities.

This is absolutely wonderful news. Although the article states that little is still known about ADHD, it is still considered a landmark in finding a cure. The best way to fix a problem is to start at the roots, and discovering that ADHD is genetic is the first small step to being able to reverse its affects. It's studies like these that set the tone for change in the world. Schools all over the country or even the world could be on their way to being free of students with learning disabilities. A cure would give these children fair, and larger opportunities in life, and rid many families of heartache.
