Then the expectant father's sperm would fertilize the one, new egg, creating a zygote (the earliest form that leads to a fetus), after the combining procedure has been performed.Shauna L. In article that I found it explained that the procedure was as followed: the woman's egg would be fertilized by husband's sperm and the husband's sperm would also fertilize a donor egg. The DNA in the fertilized egg would be removed and replaced with the DNA from woman and husband's egg. The three different DNAs would affect the child's appearance such as eye color, hair color, and other physical traits, but it would also affect other heredity traits. Because this procedure is in it's early stages I wonder if the children would have any long term affect. Future couples considering this procedure would also have to consider the genetic history of the donor when choosing an egg.
