Now knowing that this choice of food is due to a mutational gene making meat tasteless, I question whether other food sources are now tasteless as well such as berries etc. Overall, it was intriguing to finally become aware of a genetic factor that had lead pandas to consume bamboo regardless of the fact of its questioning factors. Furthermore, I do find it interesting that very few mammalian species have their entire genome sequenced as well.
