7 Foods You Didn't Know Had GMOs

GMOs are becoming a very controversial topic nowadays. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are organisms whose genes have been altered to obtain certain characteristics that would be better for production. In other words, it benefits the companies producing these foods, not the consumer. The FDA has now approved salmon as the first GMO animal for consumption, so now the controversy is beginning again. The article lists 7 foods that are GMO that you wouldn't think; milk, soda, soup, squash, vegetable oil, chips, and papaya.

I personally feel that foods should not be genetically modified for human consumption, especially animals. I truly do believe that the unbelievable amount of new cancer cases has to do with us messing with our food nowadays, and that we should leave plants and animals alone and let them grow naturally so we are not consuming anything harmful.

  1. Organic foods are extremely difficult to grow; most crops are either genetically modified or require copious amounts of pesticides for protection from pests. Without having GMO foods, food would contain a larger amount of pesticides which could be more carcinogenic than modified foods.
